If you are a women over the age of 30 and have been struggling to keep your weight at a level that was once easy for you to maintain, you are not alone! There are a lot of factors that effects a woman’s weight as she progresses in years. On my journey from 20 years old to 26 years old I noticed that I started developing hips and I haven’t even had kids yet! Certainly other things like, hereditary factors, having less time to exercise because of the increasing time demands of kids and career will play a big part in the struggle women have with the scale as they age. When a woman ages her hormones changes which can hinder weight loss for women.
You may be curious about how hormones play a factor in weight loss for women. The fact is that estrogen production in the female body begins to drop in a woman’s 30′s, and it continues to decline as her age advances. This works to actually increase the level of body fat in a woman’s body. Women with a thyroid imbalance often have the hormonal issue with weight gain on a more pronounced level. Now, women who are in a constant battle with the scale often get stressed out about their weight, and this stress only contributes to further weight issues in many cases.
So what can a woman do about this hormonal issue that is brought on by age? Is weight loss for women in their 30′s, 40′s, and beyond simply hopeless? Unfortunately, you likely will have to try harder in your later years to maintain an ideal body weight, and this is largely accomplished through healthier eating habits and increasing the amount of exercise you get on a regular basis. You should opt for healthy lifestyle changes over fad diets if you want to see lasting results with your weight and really take control of that number on the scale once again. You really have to keep monitoring your weight more now then when you were younger. Make the time at least once a week to weight yourself.
What ever you do, don’t yo-yo diet because it really effects your metabolism. You will find that you will lose a lot of weight and then the minute you come off you become even heavier than what you started at. So yo-yo dieting is disastrous as you age. The best thing that you can do for yourself and for your family is to allocate time to yourself, where you work on your physical body and mind. You give so much to others, so it’s now time to give back to yourself!
