But is it possible to make losing weight EASY, instead of hard? Yes, and you may be surprised to learn that the difficulty or ease of a diet has nothing to do with the diet itself. Instead, it’s all about your attitude.

Have you ever had to perform a chore or obligation that you really didn’t want to do? If so, you probably remember moaning and groaning about it the whole time. You probably remember feeling resentful and unhappy as you did whatever it was, and you couldn’t wait for it to be done. Not surprisingly, it probably seemed to take forever to finish the task, and you probably felt drained by the time you did finish.

Whenever you approach a goal with this kind of “don’t wanna” attitude, you make it ten times harder on yourself. It’s like dragging a heavy concrete block over a rutted dirt track – there’s a lot of resistance as two rough surfaces grind against each other. But if just one of the surfaces was smooth, like ice, the block would glide smoothly over it, right?

Your attitude determines how much friction you encounter in whatever you do. When you feel negative in any way (frustrated, stubborn, disinterested, bored, unhappy) it’s like digging in your heels so you create a lot of resistance against progress. When you lighten up and approach the goal from a relaxed, open state of mind, progress is much easier.

With this in mind, here are a few ways to make losing weight easy:

1 – Keep telling yourself it will be easy

If you keep groaning about how hard it is to lose weight, you will create a self-fulfilling prophecy. But you can create a positive self-fulfilling prophecy by saying to yourself every day, “This is easy, I can do this forever, no problem! It’s easy for me to improve my eating habits. I enjoy eating healthier foods. I like working out; I always feel great afterward.” (You may not believe these things right away, but eventually you will.)

2 – Don’t get tangled in challenges

The achievement of every goal will require you to overcome challenges along the way. That’s inevitable – but your reaction to these challenges is crucial. Rather than getting upset about them, just shrug your shoulders and do what you can to move through them. The great thing about challenges is that they often seem worse than they really are. If you don’t turn them into huge issues, you can usually work through them fairly quickly.

3 – Be fully committed to doing whatever it takes

One common reason for weight loss being difficult is a lack of commitment. You want to lose weight…but you resist changing your habits. You want to get into shape…but you hate exercise and avoid it as much as possible. If you instead fully commit yourself to doing whatever it takes, you will have an easier time making consistent progress instead of backsliding due to a wishy-washy resolve.

Can you see now that to make losing weight easy you simply have to approach it from an easy mindset? Expect losing weight to be easy, keep telling yourself that losing weight is easy, keep moving forward, and the whole journey to your goal weight WILL be easy!
