Summer will be here before you know it, and wedding season will be in full swing. Whether you are getting married or someone you know is, you’ve probably stumbled upon this article because you are searching for ways to lose weight for a wedding. There are endless diets that will help you lose weight, but not all of them are good for you. Some of them are downright scary.
Don’t put your health at risk for the sake of losing a few pounds – follow these three time-tested rules that will easily help you lose weight for a wedding or any other formal occasion:
1) Eat a lot of vegetables.
Vegetables are your best friend when you’re trying to lose weight. They contain a lot of fiber but few calories, so they fill you up and provide fuel to get you through the day, while also helping to keep your metabolism strong and digestion moving. Aim for a minimum of 5 servings of vegetables each day; a serving is 1/2 cup of cooked vegetables, or 1 cup for leafy vegetables like lettuce.
2) Water, water and more water.
Most people don’t drink nearly enough water and live in a constant state of mild dehydration. Even worse, they may drink a lot of caffeinated or sugary beverages which only adds calories and chemicals, which works against the body’s fat-burning mechanisms. One of the most important things you can do to lose weight for a wedding or any other reason is to omit most of the other beverages you drink and instead drink plenty of water all day long. Within a few days you’ll realize how much better you feel, and yes, you’ll start losing weight almost immediately.
3) Move it to lose it.
You weren’t hoping to slide through the rest of this article without mention of the “E” word, were you? Exercise is important when losing weight. The good news is that you don’t have to become an Olympic athlete to be slim and gorgeous – you just need to spend a little time each day bumping up your calorie burn and working your muscles. How much time? As little as 30 minutes a day spent walking, dancing, jogging, swimming, cycling – any activity that gets your heart rate up. You could also add in a few sessions of resistance training each week of you want to tone and firm arms, legs, belly, and back.
These three steps alone are an excellent way to lose weight for a wedding, swimsuit season, or just because you want to get into better shape in general.
